License to possess and/or carry a firearm can be issued solely to an individual documented to be in good physical and mental health based on medical examination, i.e., solely in absence of any medical obstacle (disease and/or medical condition) that makes the person incapable of possessing and/or carrying a firearm.
- medical examination of persons who apply for, or already have, a license to possess and/or carry a firearm, encompasses laboratory workup, psychological testing, eyesight testing, hearing ability testing, ECG recordings, examination by a Neuropsychiatrist, and examination by an Occupational Health specialist (the candidate should be on an empty stomach)
On the scheduled date, you have to present with:
- ID card,
- Medical opinion on your health status, issued by the attending GP/FMP, solely in form of the PDF document enclosed herein with
- medical records on any chronic or major condition you have been diagnosed with, if that is the case
- glasses or contact lenses in case you use them
Of note, on November 1st, 2018, the new “ACT ON THE PROCUREMENT AND POSSESSION OF FIREARMS” entered into force.
